When Hasan Rucker arrived at the Zhao Changjun Wushu Academy in the ancient Chinese city of Xi'an in 2005, he wasn't what the faculty had expected. The School had accepted the 27-year-old Rucker (known in wushu circles by his Chinese name, Hai Shan) upon the recommendation of Rucker's teacher in Philadelphia. But they didn't know the extent of Rucker's training in wushu or his level of conditioning or his commitment to the rigors of full-time martial arts training, Chinese-style.
